Triple Exhibition Day

On Saturday I went to the Seoul Arts Centre to see two exhibitions but I actually ended up seeing three. The first one I went to was a Karim Rashid exhibition and he is one of the world’s top 3 designers! The second one was the X-ray Man exhibition that displayed different types of x-ray art, which was a whole new thing for me. The last one I saw was a Vogue exhibition that showed the different paintings and artworks that were featured in previous Vogue magazines.

Karim Rashid

Karim Rashid is one of the most popular designers in the world for his unique and colourful furniture designs! Not only has he designed couches and desks but also smaller household objects such as the famous Garbino (garbage can) and soap dispenser. There were a lot of paintings and furniture! They even had this giant wooden seat that had speakers all around it. The exhibition space itself was really nice because even the background had gradient colours!

X-Ray Man

At first I thought this exhibition would be about like medical x-rays and how they work but actually it was the complete opposite. The exhibition showed x-ray art, which is basically taking x-rays of different objects and turning that into art. This was such a fresh idea – I was intrigued right away! My favourite was probably the x-ray of the bus because you could really see every single piece of both the people and the bus. It was also nice to see the x-rays of the plants. These were displayed in a white room and it worked really well with all the colours from the flowers 🙂

After the two exhibitions we got a bit hungry so we went to a cafe inside the Arts Centre called Tera Rosa. There were so many people that we had to wait for a spot in the cafe! My mom got the hand-drip iced coffee and I got the lemonade. We decided to share the lemon cheese cake just because it seemed to be the most popular cake. Everything was really good but I loved the lemonade because it was fresh (like literally you can see a guy squeezing like hundreds of lemons).

Vogue: Like a Painting

The final exhibition we saw was a Vogue exhibition. Everyone recognizes Vogue as a top class fashion magazine but this exhibition was dedicated to all the artwork that was shown in the magazines throughout the years. There were a lot of photo zones and I got to walk my first red carpet for this exhibition! My absolute favourite artwork was a picture of a woman in a red outfit (pictured below) and there is like red dust coming from her dress. It actually looked so much like a painting but I was surprised to see it was actually a photograph!

That’s it for today!

Bye for now 🙂
